The ride was georgous, lucky us it was a beautifull fall day, with lots of sunshine, the fall colors where amazing and the whole ride was just breathtaking.
We where lucky that we had two good guides with us, otherwise we would have been soooooooooo lost.
Thank you Lisa for taking us, we had a great time.
![]() A trail that provides scenic views of the neighboring foothills and Platte River valley, camp, Chatfield State Park, nestled next to the foothills southwest of Denver.
We had a great ride. The fall colors are amazing, the water was low, so crossings where easy.
![]() Wow, wow, wow,
we rode for 3 1/2 hours through breath taking rock formation and beautiful valleys.
We started out on Coyote Song Trail went through Lyons Back Trail to Cathy Johnson Trail, took the loop back to Coyote Song Trail, crossed Private Road and went on Grazing Elk Trail (this trail is subject to seasonal closure and also has Rattle Snakes! )
![]() ![]() Weaving through Ponderosa pines, this trail is an exhilarating ride through the forest. The park has two loops with different characteristics that complement each other well. The trails are pretty short, which allows you to tailor your ride to fit your aerobic ability. The lower loop has steeper climbs and drops on a narrower trail, while the northern loop has an open, casual feel.
![]() Cherokee Ranch & Castle includes land that originally belonged to two separate homesteads in the late 1890's: The Flower Homestead and the Blunt Homestead. The Scottish-style castle was built 1924 . The land was sold to Tweet Kimball in 1954. Tweet purchased adjacent land that had been the Blunt Homestead and renamed both pieces of land Cherokee Ranch, which today includes almost 3,200 acres of natural beauty and wildlife. In 1996, Tweet sold Cherokee Ranch in a conservation easement to Douglas County. The Foundation holds the deed to the land and the land is now protected as a wildlife sanctuary and serves as a cultural and educational center.
Cherokee Ranch & Castle's unique architecture combines aspects of the Western United States and a Scottish-style castle. The Castle is a museum that is home to historic collections of fine art, furnishings and memorabilia from around the world. Art lovers often visit to see original drawings by Sir Christopher Wren, the architect of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. The Castle's breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains make it an unforgettable destination for events and cultural discovery.
A big thank you to Micky Clark who invited us to that georgous ride.
![]() ![]() This is one of my favorite trails, especially in the summer, because you have a lot of shade and water. The official Indian Creek Trail #800 is a 14 mile loop, you can also ride into Waterton Canyon, Ringtail Trail and more, part of the trail is the Colorado Trail.
Beautifull views of Devil Head and the surrounding forest.
The trails are not very good marked, so be carefull not to get lost.
![]() ![]() Spruce Mountain Trail ascends Spruce Mountain through a ponderosa pine and Douglas fir forest. The first lookout offers breathtaking views of Greenland Open Space, surrounding buttes, Pikes Peak, the Palmer Divide, Carpenter Creek and thousands of acres of protected open space. There is plenty of opportunities to gaze off rocky lookouts in all directions. 4.5 miles from Spruce Mountain Road parking lot, roundtrip.
![]() Ride or hike this 1224-acre open space buffer between Castle Rock and Franktown. Embark on this soft-surface trail from the trailhead at the old homestead at Parker Road. Follow the farm lane as it crosses over Cherry Creek and then winds up to the top of the mesa where it loops around viewpoints, rock outcroppings, grass and shrublands, as well as pines and junipers.
4.1 miles of trail were constructed, plus .3 mile of trail is shared with the Cherry Creek Trail. On a ride or hike up onto the mesa loop and back, you would cover almost 7 miles.
![]() ![]() This open space designation protects the scenic viewshed and wildlife habitat of the land east of Roxborough State Park.
The 4-mile Sharptail Trail crosses rolling grasslands, home to a variety of wildlife including elk herds.
This trail will have seasonal closures in the fall to allow for hunting as regulated by Colorado Division of Wildlife.
Approximately four miles one way of beautifull rolling hills, connects with the Swallowtail Trail.
