OUR BARN RULES

We want to make coming to our barn a positive experience. This is a family atmosphere and all rules will be enforced.
Be courteous and respectful of all other Boarders and their Guests!

Never take a horse for granted. They are not dumb or stupid and they need your constant awareness.
When working around horses, keep your gestures and movements gentle and quiet.
YOUR HORSE'S BEHAVIOR IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
If you cannot control your horse during your visits or Management deems your horse unsafe for Staff to handle, you will be asked to put your horse under the care of a trainer (at your own expense) or to relocate your horse to another facility
Horses are not to be left unattended or untied!!!
Horses are never to be out of their stalls/pastures without proper restraints. They must be wearing a halter and lead shank/rope.
Do not tie horses to stall doors, stall fronts, buildings or to fences.
Horses are never to be tied in any way by the bridle. A halter may be slipped over the bridle if a horse must be tied with its bridle on.
No one under 16 years old is allowed in pastures unless accompanied by a parent/guardian. Please keep all children under control. Climbing gates, fences, trees, rock throwing, etc. is not permitted at any time!

ALL MINORS MUST WEAR AN APPROVED SAFETY HELMET WHILE MOUNTED
Hard hats, heeled shoes and pants are strongly recommended

No riding through the barn.

BOARDERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BEHAVIOR AND SAFETY OF THEIR GUESTS. All Guests who will be riding must sign a Liability Waiver. Guests are not allowed on the premises without being accompanied by a Boarder.

Personal pets are highly discouraged, however if present, all pets need to be under owners control.
Do not allow your dog to annoy others and their horses.  ONLY quiet, pleasant dogs are allowed to be present. Only one mistake will lead to a ban on the dog's presence (such as chasing cats or not getting along with the barn dogs).

No Visitor pets are allowed at Morningstar Ranch (They may stay in the vehicle.)

Absolutely no running, shouting, cursing or gossip allowed. If you have a problem with someone at the barn, please speak directly to THAT person, not someone else. Conflicts are resolved by talking it out, not by gossip.

DO NOT FEED, RIDE, HANDLE OR MEDICATE ANOTHER BOARDER'S HORSE WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISSION OF THAT HORSE'S OWNER PROVIDED TO MANAGEMENT. DISREGARD OF THIS RULE IS GROUNDS FOR EVICTION.
We recommend not to hand feed any horse. Treats may be given in the feed bowl or on the ground IF OWNER OF THE HORSE GIVES PERMISSION. This keeps fingers from being mistaken as treats.
Do not give horses extra hay without the management's permission.
If you take your horse away for shows, trail rides, you may take a supply of hay and grain but no bedding.

Clean and Tidy!!!
It is the absolute responsibility of the boarders to clean up after themselves and their horses. There are adequate trash containers as well as shovels, brooms and muck buckets for the disposal of manure, hair, hoof pickings and general refuse. Please use these, and do not leave unsightly messes in the aisles or wash area.
YOU MAKE A MESS, YOU CLEAN IT UP!!!
The hoses must be hung on hangers and wound up after you are finished using them. Shod horses puncture hoses when they step on them.
Wash racks must be cleaned. Please sweep up all debris. This prevents clogged drains.
Turn lights off when you leave the room!
NEVER use or handle anyone's horse, tack, etc. without explicit permission to do so!

Keep tack room and barn secure and clean. Tack space will be assigned.
Morningstar Ranch is not liable for thefts or damage.

Show respect and courtesy when in the arena and on the trails with other horses.

Our driveway is no race track, use extreme caution when entering or exiting the property!!!

All motor vehicles must be parked only in designated parking area

Absolutely NO SMOKING at all times in and around the barn or fields!!!

If you are going to be at the barn past 9:00 PM, please notify Management

Report any change of address, telephone number or horse status to MSR.
If you board or lease a horse at MSR and plan to leave town, please advise Management where you can be reached.

MSR shall have the right to assign and re-assign paddocks and box stalls in order to minimize dangerous or nuisance situations or wear & tear on the facility.

Please do not waste water; turn off water after use and use buckets whenever possible.

If a boarder is in serious violation of, or repeatedly disregards, any of the Morningstar Ranch policies, he/she will receive a warning. At the discretion of MSR management, he/she may lose all riding and boarding privileges at facility if that person receives more than one (1) warning.
Boarding at MSR is a privilege. Actions such as stealing, use of narcotics, flagrant damage or destruction of stable property, abuse of animals, physical or verbal abuse of MSR personnel, other boarders or their guests or any other actions which are deemed detrimental to MSR will not be tolerated and will result in the immediate expulsion from the premises.
You are hereby advised that direct loss, damage or injury to your horse, tack, equipment or trailer is not covered by MSR insurance, while on these premises. You as the owner of these personal property items have the financial interest in same; therefore it is up to you to be sure that they are insured under a homeowner's, tenants, or other insurance policy, or under a separate policy as in the case of loss, injury, damage or death of a horse.
